George Nakashima Style Outdoor Mahogany Conoid Bench
This bench was inspired by the George Nakashima Conoid Bench. The customer approached me about an outdoor piece for his wifes Christmas gift and I was happy to work through the details of size, wood type, and the Japanese style. As you can see from the video the proportion ended up great for the Koi pond.

The actual size of the bench - Slab Thickness 1-3/4", Legth 6', Width 37", Total Height 34", Seat Height 14".
Made from Cuban Mahogany as the main slab and bent lamination on the seat back, it is unique and beautiful color and grain. Protected with a penatrating oil and easy to maintain for anybody I believe it boads well for it's final customer and resting place. The spindles were made from Hickory and shrunk under heat lamps so as they get wet and expand the joints will tighten nicely.
I've made a few of these benches and this was a pleasure to build, I'm happy to do another for outdoors or indoors with any material.
